Our last FORS Update was 35 days ago.  I informed you about the tragic death of Missouri State Trooper Corporal John Anthony ”Jay” Sampietro who was killed while directing traffic around other troopers who were reconstructing an accident scene when he was struck by a SUV.  Yesterday, another trooper from the Missouri State Highway Patrol was killed. Donald K. Floyd was killed Thursday when he was hit by a pickup truck during a traffic stopalong U.S. 60 in Texas County.  Were these tragedies a fluke?  Absolutely not.

Several weeks ago I was contacted by a woman named Alicia Larkins.  Alicia has taken the bull by the horns in Tennessee to help promote the Move Over Law.  She is working with Senator Frist to try to take our efforts to a federal level.  Why does she care?  Her husband, Trooper Todd Larkins, was killed in July.  He was run over during a traffic stop.  A woman who has lost so much is dedicating her life to saving others.  Once we can raise the $30,000 for billboards in NC, FORS will help Alicia do the same in Tennessee.  Please, help us end these tragedies.  Please send your donations.

Currently, FORS has raised 5% of our $30,000 goal for MOVE OVER billboards across NC.  Please help us with the other 95%.  Lives do depend on it.

Our bumper sticker order has arrived.  We have two types:  One for emergency vehicles and one for public service vehicles.  They look like the preivous ones except the “or” was replaced with “&” as well as a change in wording for public service.  If you want me to send you an attachment to see what they look like before ordering, please let me know.

The stickers state…MOVE OVER & SLOW DOWN FOR EMERGENCY VEHICLES (or PUBLIC SERVICE VEHICLES).

The first 2000 stickers FORS printed, we handed out without asking for donations in return.  (Mecklenberg County EMS ordered 500 for themselves and paid for them as well.)  We would prefer to give the stickers to whomever asks for them.  However, we ask that IF YOU CAN, please send FORS a donation with your request for the stickers.  IF YOU ARE UNABLE to do so, the important thing as that we get the stickers out there.  Please mail your tax deductible donations to FORS 141 Spirea Drive Waynesville, NC  28785.  Include how many stickers you would like and which kind EMERGENCY or PUBLIC SERVICE.  You can also reply to this email with your request.

PLEASE DON’T FORGET…..THE DEADLINE IS TOMORROW!  If you do not receive this email until Monday and want to play, please call Stan IMMEDIATELY!
